Nervous System Regulation for High-Performance Teams
A nervous system that can regulate is a powerful asset in the modern world. Why? Because it allows us to unlock understanding, self-awareness and capacity & resilience so that we are not stuck in unhealthy states of stress and anxiety 24/7. This is not another mindfulness course that gathers dust; it's a neuroscience-backed educational programme that provides a language for individuals to name their experiences and awareness around personalised, identify unique tools to self-regulate, which can help individuals transform stress into recoverable energy and can turn leadership teams into spaces where people develop the capacity to feel safe enough to think clearly, collaborate freely, and perform at their best from a position of self-awareness.

Why now?
63% of UK employees show at least one characteristic of burnout, up from 51% just a few years ago. Mental ill health is now the leading cause of long-term workplace absence in the UK, and poor workplace mental health costs UK employers an estimated £51–56 billion a year — most of it not from people being off sick, but from people still at their desks, running on empty. The organisations getting ahead of this aren't waiting for a crisis. For every £1 invested in workplace mental health, employers see an average £4.70 return through reduced absence, presenteeism, and turnover. A regulated nervous system isn't a wellness perk. It's a performance and retention strategy.
What I offer
Urban Leading brings personal, practical nervous system education to founders, leadership teams, and high-stakes departments — delivered 1:1 or in small groups of up to eight, in person or virtually.

Translating Polyvagal Theory and applied neuroscience into tools people can use between meetings, the programme gives leaders the ability to recognise when they — or the people around them — are dysregulated, and how to return to a calm, connected, and clear-headed state, on demand.

The Programme
01
Foundations & Neuroception
An introduction to the three states your nervous system moves through and how your body detects safety or threat before you're consciously aware of it.
Leaders leave understanding why one dysregulated person may unsettle a whole room, and why a regulated one can steady it.
02
Personal Nervous System Mapping
Guided, experiential work to map your own triggers, your "glimmers" — the small moments that bring you back to calm — and the physical cues that signal you're moving out of balance.
Learning to spot these in yourself, and in the people you lead, turns moments of friction toward insight and understanding.
03
Toolkit & Integration
A curated set of science-backed regulation tools — breathwork, physiological sighs, movement, heart-focused practices, co-regulation techniques — each usable in under two minutes. Every participant leaves with their own personal regulation toolkit: three daily habits and three micro-practices built around what actually works for them.
What these build?
A shared language for making sense of pressure, individually and as a team. Higher psychological safety and trust, because it starts with the safety each person carries internally. Clearer thinking and better decisions, because clarity has a physiological floor. When internalised and integrated, the results may lead to better sleep, increased resilience, and fewer sick days. Stronger working relationships — a regulated nervous system is, quite literally, contagious in a room. Greater resilience to deadlines, change, and uncertainty. And tools that cost nothing in time once learned — most take thirty seconds to two minutes.
Format
Three sessions of 90–120 minutes each over one day or broken up into consecutive sessions, delivered 1:1 or in small groups of up to eight for genuine depth and safety. In person or virtual. Optional integration with onsite wellness facilities. Take-home materials so the tools outlast the programme. Post-programme check-ins available. Ideal for leadership teams, high-stakes departments, or any group moving through change, growth, or sustained pressure.
